Detective Grant Davis is currently assigned to Investigations.
Grant was born in Memphis, Tennessee and moved with his family to Garner in 1988. Shortly thereafter, he started taking classes at Wake Tech Community College. Grant eventually earned his Associate Degree in Criminal Justice in May 1991. By August of that same year, Grant accepted a police officer position with the Garner Police Department. He was right back in the classroom for another 15 weeks of Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) at the NC Justice Academy (NCJA) in Salemburg .
After graduating from BLET, Grant was assigned to Field Services where he spent the next seven years working patrol. He was also a Field Training Officer and Bike Patrol Team member.
In July of 1998, Grant was selected to be the School Resource Officer position for Garner Senior High School. He spent the next 6 years working inside GSHS. Grant's tenure with GSHS is said to be one of the longest, single school, SRO assignments in Wake County to date. Grant also volunteered to be a JV and Varsity FastPitch Softball coach while at GSHS.
At a young age, Grant knew he wanted to be Police Officer.
"While growing up, my next door neighbor was a state trooper. It was a turning point in my life."
In his free time, Grant enjoys time with his wife and two children. He also takes in the occasional sporting event, particularly ECU Football and Carolina Hurricanes Hockey. Grant has been a Canes season ticket holder for several years.
