Senior Officer Troy Young began his law enforcement career in 1987 and hired by the Garner Police Department in 1988. Troy spent the next 13 years working in Patrol. He was a Field Training Officer for most of his tenure in uniform and helped prepare many new officers for the job. In December of 2001, Troy was selected to be the Department's Crime Prevention Officer. Since then, Troy has been responsible for researching crime patterns, generating related statistics for publication, developing courses and delivering seminars for Town residents and police officers alike. He also identifies crime patterns using police reports and other analysis methodologies, all for public distribution in his Weekly Crime Alerts.
