27th Annual National Night Out - Wednesday, July 28, 2010
The Garner Police Department, in partnership with Target Stores of Garner, will be hosting National Night Out (NNO) on August 3, 2010 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. in the parking lot of Target at White Oak Shopping Center, located at 1040 Timber Dr. East. National Night Out is celebrating its 27th annual event which promotes police-community partnerships, safety, and neighborhood unity. This nation-wide celebration involves over 37 million people in more than 15,000 communites across the United States.

Garner Police Swear-In New Officer - Tuesday, June 01, 2010
On Friday, May 28, 2010, Officer Jean Caquias was sworn-in as Garner police's newest officer. Jean was born on November 6, 1984 in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He moved to Providence, Rhode Island in 2000 where he attended, and subsequently graduated from Central High School in 2002. After receiving his diploma, he went the Community College of Rhode Island where he earned an Associate of Science degree in Law Enforcement in 2006.

Garner Police Charge Wife With Homicide - Saturday, May 29, 2010
On 5/29/2010 at 1:09 a.m. Garner Police responded to a 911 call from a female reporting that she shot her husband in their camper (RV) parked in the old Wal-Mart parking lot behind Staples at 1411 Garner's Station Blvd. This shooting was as a result of a domestic related argument which involved another female. The male victim is Abundio G. Gonzalez, DOB 5-28-1962, who was deceased at the scene as a result of an apparent single gunshot wound to the chest from a handgun. Ruby Ashworth Gonzalez, DOB 6-1-1950, his wife, was arrested at the scene. This couple had been living in the RV (camper) in various locations throughout the Wake County area.

Garner Police Awards Banquet - Tuesday, May 11, 2010
The Garner Police Department commemorated National Police Week last night during an awards banquet hosted by the Garner Optimist Club. During this banquet Mayor Ronnie Williams issued a proclamation to observe May 9-15, 2010 as National Police Week.

Rabies and Microchip Clinic - Lake Benson Park - Wednesday, May 05, 2010
Garner Animal Control, in partnership with Ansede Animal Hospital and the SPCA of Wake County, is hosting a Rabies Vaccine and Microchip Clinic this Saturday, May 8, 2010. The event will take place at Lake Benson Park, 921 Buffaloe Rd., from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Rabies vaccinations are available for $5.00 while the microchips are $10.00.
